dealing with... 

although had not dealt with the cyber bullying well at the time this is how am using the internet now,and what woud recommend others to do also.

  • if am ever targeted and abused on the internet,will take screen shots of it for evidence if it becomes long term to show police.
  • if am feeling not good about what is happening,will take a break from any chat sites,this stops from getting paranoid and unsafe over time about whether people on one site coud be pretending to be nice whilst being the sockpuppet of the bully.
  • always avoid forum threads which look like they have been writen to troll,such as saying nasty things about disabilities on a forum for people with disability,and avoid giving attention to people who fake disabilities-it gets easy to spot over time.
  • if have been abused out of no where,screen shot it and tell the moderators of the forum and if they dont help tell support staff/family etc.
  • if using a forum which allows a signature option,sometimes it can help getting understood by explaining in signature that are learning disabled and if people want to have it said a different way to take it to private message,this can avoid run ins with 'grammar nazi' users.
  • avoid forums which dont have a good moderation team.
  • try to learn forum rules over time to get as much understanding as possible of what is and isnt allowed,sometimes learning/intelectualy disabled people are assumed to be trolls because they forgot to read or didnt understood rules ,but then there are attention seekers and trolls who take advantage of people who offer tolerance to learning disabled people which causes difficulty for real learning disabled people to gain trust.

why do websites protect other minorities from abuse and bullying but allow it towards us?




this is something very noticible in many forums and has always been there but noticibly getting worser.
these forums will agressively protect minority groups such as people who are gay,people who arent white skin,people who are gypsy or people who are muslim.

the forum users and staff will all show hatred towards people using any terms towards those groups or those who are homophobic or racist.

they will lock threads which have gotten dirtied with slurs towards any of the groups have named and will usualy ban the users or give them a warning.

now compare that to the sea of posts we see littered with slurs towards intelectual disability, they may not always be directly abusing intelectual disability but by calling someone non disabled 'retarded/ mentaly retarded/a tard' they are associating high functioning negative behaviors with our condition.

these are negative behaviors, mistakes or unfunny stuff that we will never be found doing,they are also continuing the use of an outdated slur which has held so many of us down all our lives,it has burdened our lives due to kids learning it as abuse,it has no medical use anymore,this is why it isnt used in the UK.

what they are doing is indirectly abusing us,if they said the word 'fag' on a forum today people woud attack them for being against gay people and for using a slur which has haunted them all their lives,it is just a pity we cannot be offered this level of protection and understanding to.

what we need is not word banning but education on the slurs of our disability to show the profound effect they have had on our lives and how others treat us.
people need to be educated that
calling their mates retarded or anyone else still has a knock on effect on us,they are still indirectly making a negative judgement on us.

some organisations such as mencap have tried to get 'retarded' banned but banning words doesnt work, look how huge the internet is ,anonymity completely changes a lot of people including making them believe they can say any old bollox without getting into any trouble for it,yet away from the computer these people are the biggest pussies around.

there needs to be proper education and awareness done on words before they even bring banning into the idea, this never happens,how many people truly know exactly where racist or sexuality slurs come from?
very few woud imagine unless theyre wikipedia addicts or affected by them directly.

we also need education on disability as a protected group, many dont realise it is classed as a hate crime and those who use the terms or abuse can end up in trouble with the police.
unfortunately because so many sites dont care about the protection of vulnerable individuals it will be a long battle.

victim blaming-a problem from within clauset trolls,cyber bullies & the 'free speech without consequence' crowd


there is a worsening problem in society that is threatening vulnerable users of the internet such as learning/intelectualy disabled,mentaly ill,children, elderly etc.

this is a side effect of the consequence free anonymity as people;faced with such levels of freedom to talk as much bullshit as they want are losing the ability to fight the wrong and defend the vulnerable.

although not disability related, an example of such victim blaming in action is the current amanda todds case,the  teenager was manipulated into showing herself with no clothes on on a paedos webcam,the young lad she thought she was talking to turned out to be a fully grown adult paedo and he not only cyber bullied her he blackmailed her with the screenshots of her naked and sent them to all students at every school she moved to to escape and also her family, this was a guy she didnt even know.

not surprising this had a huge effect on her mental health, and after making a video on youtube about her suffering she suicide.

now every forum am on that isnt to do with disability were disgusting towards this girl, saying its her own fault for going on a webcam for the man.

just as all the people who have been knived or shot because they fought back,is it their fault they got a hit in and made the shooter/knifer want to do it? its absolute bullshit to blame a victim,even more so when it is a vulnerable member of society which amanda todds is.

it is also absolute bullshit that grown members of our society can look down on youngsters or disabled people because they are being cyber bullied, of course they must have caused it themselves and dont deserve defending,people with that attitude need to go rot.

the cyber bully of mine did exactly what all those amanda todds bully sympathisers did by making em out to be the one in the wrong which only added to the mental torment he had caused.

and that is another issue,he said he never caused any mental health issues as people have to be mental to have mental health issues triggered, if theres one thing he never changed his story on it was that he always blamed the victim and coud come up with any excuse for it not being caused by him.

not surprising he has major issues against the anonymous team who has tracked down the guy who bullied amanda todds.

our internet is full of victim blaming bully sympathisers and it is just a pity we cannot get them experiencing an accute long term case of the same torment we were put through to make them develop some understanding and if not, pay thailand to take them in their prisons as they are pyschopaths and will never change.
